I first put on skates at the young age of 2. I joined my first Skate Canada registered skating club at the age of 3. Since then my love for the ice, jumping/spinning and competing as a figure skater has increased exponentially year by year. I love to compete and face challenges which has only helped me to achieve the amount of success that I have had. Now at the age of 19, I’m heading into my 5th year as a Senior lady competing at the national level. I won the Junior Women Canadian National championships in 2013 and won a Silver medal at the Novice Women Canadian Championships in 2012. I’ve taken part in and gained huge amounts of experience at my first WORLD Junior Championships and another two Junior Grand Prix events and I’m very much looking forward to an exciting winter season this 2017-18 year.
One of the most interesting and exciting things I have done is participate in a P&G Olympic commercial for the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics. It was called “Thank You Mom”, and I played the part of a Russian figure skater who aspired to go the Olympics. The video shows several aspiring athletes in different sports going through the rigors of first learning and then training for high level competitions, complete with tons of falls, bumps and bruises. I was the figure skater in the middle and end that persevered all those falls as a toddler, child and youngster in order to fulfill my dreams with a great free skate performance at the “Olympic Games”. You can see that commercial below!
Another very memorable moment in my skating life was the 2010 Winter Olympics that were held here in Vancouver, BC. I was fortunate to have been chosen as one of the “Flower Retriever” girls for several of the figure skating events.
One interesting thing that you should know about me is that I follow a very passionate vegan lifestyle. This means that I do not consume meat, dairy, eggs, or honey. I love to live a healthy lifestyle, and nutrition has always been something that is very important for my skating. Someday when I am done skating, I would love to be able to help other people become as healthy as possibly by pursuing a career in dietetics.
